Former NBA star Kevin Johnson leads incumbent Heather Fargo 47 percent to 40 percent in the Sacramento, CA mayoral race as of Tuesday evening. There are still about 15,000 vote-by-mail ballots that have to be counted, but it appears unlikely that Johnson will have the required 50 percent mandate to avoid a run off. Johnson who supports presumed Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama seems poised to be the next mayor of Sacramento even with a likely November runoff.
